Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer (R&D)
Location: Alberton

Leading R&D firm requires mechanical engineer. Design mechanical machines and components.

What the person must be able to do:

This role is in the mechanical R&D, manufacturing and industrial sectors. The person must be able to execute all job tasks in a cutting-edge mechanical design environment. The ideal candidate will be a senior mechanical engineer with significant experience in designing industrial parts for machines and highly sophisticated tooling. This experience will include exposure to CAD Design, Finite Element Analysis, and Mechanical Simulation.

Mechanical design of mechanical machines and components (May be electronically controlled)

Mechanical design of industrial processing machines and components (e.g. A smelter or a Water Filtration Machine)

Drafting sophisticated CNC diagrams in CAD software

Simple and complex geometric designs in multiple dimensions

Ability to use 3D Simulation Software

Ability to perform design calculations from first principles includes FEA calculations

Component wear and tear, maintenance and failure analysis

Technical guidance on appropriate component materials

Product Innovation

Technical Innovation and coming up with unique design solutions

Full product Research and Development

Project Management of development projects from concept phase through to production and implementation in the field

Project Documentation eg. Development Process Plans, Engineering Reports, Engineering Change Procedures, Engineering Drawings.

Engineering project completion on time with high quality standards

Following organisational design best practices

Background work experience

3+ years experience in mechanical design and development (Preference 5+ years)

Extensive exposure to mechanical component design for industrial machinery and processes

Experience utilising CAD Software such as Pro Engineer or equivalent

BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering Preferred (N Dips with extensive practical experience can apply)

3+ years’ experience working in an organisation that designs, develops, manufactures and supports mechanical products

ECSA Professional Registration strongly advantageous
