Enjoy working in this beautiful Harbour town of Knysna. Well established Engineering firm seeks a new team member to work on the Structural Engineering side of the business.

Job Overview

As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of various structures such as buildings, bridges, and tunnels. You will work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze structures using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools
  • Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports for construction projects
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to develop cost-effective and efficient solutions
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure that construction is progressing according to plans and specifications
  • Review and approve construction materials and methods to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards
  • Analyze and troubleshoot any structural issues that may arise during construction
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and new technologies to improve design and construction processes
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and provide guidance on complex projects
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably in the construction industry
  • Extensive knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
