We are currently accepting applications for the following position located in the Witbank, Mpumalanga area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the safe and cost effective extraction of Glencore Coal South Africa’s coal resources and reserves by generating, processing, interpreting and reporting geological information using geological models and relevant software to support optimal mine planning and economic extraction.

• Constructing geological models
• Designing and coordinating prospecting programs
• Designing and managing geological systems
• Writing geology reports for Mergers & Acquisitions, Competent Persons Report, Mine Works Program and project documents
• Managing the Geo Bank database
• Assisting in optimising coal quality and product simulations

• B.Sc. Honours Degree in Geology
• SACNASP registration will be advantageous

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the geology coal mining and exploration environment, of which 2 years should be in a C‑Upper Grade Controller role
• Experience and proficiency in geological modelling (MINEX, coal quality simulation modelling software, Global Information Systems, CAD software packages) and applying geostatistical principles
• Proficiency with geological database design and management

• Ability to carefully and objectively analyse and evaluate information to inform decisions and key actions
• Consciousness for details and ability to produce consistently high quality and accurate work
• Ability to maintain high levels of individual and team performance by driving the achievement of goals, targets and financial objectives
• Ability to take the initiative and invest energy to make things happen
