purpose of the job:to perform process control duties as per the section-specific procedures to enable the section/plant to meet production targets with respect to time, quality, reduced frequency of errors and wastage reduction.

minimum qualifications and requirements:

  • nqf level 4 (matric) with mathematics and science, and/or a process controller who has passed one pmr process controller module.
  • 0-1-year relevant plant/process experience.
  • good communication skills with the ability to read and write in english.
  • knowledge of plant-specific processes.
  • knowledge of risk assessments in the workplace, including safety, environmental, security, and quality procedures.
  • knowledge of company policies, standards, procedures and rules.
  • knowledge of basic fighting and first aid training.
  • basic computer literacy with good communication and customer service skills.
  • basic problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • computer literacy, i.e., ms office, sap, will be an added advantage.
  • must be medically fit for the platinum metal refinery (pmr).

duties and responsibilities:

  • carry out all tasks associated with the trainee process controller position – as per the smelt cpdp.
  • ensure that work is carried out in compliance with work procedures.
  • ensure that log sheets (and other required documentation) are updated accurately, conduct analyses, and monitor operations.
  • responsible for promoting and maintaining safety, environmental, quality and security standards in the area of work.
  • promote and maintain good housekeeping in areas of responsibility.
