The Executive Manager:
Engineering remains accountable for the legal compliance of the site in terms of the General Machinery Regulations as stipulated within the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Plan and conduct technical and problem‑solving investigations and modifications on product/processes, technology or equipment.
- Monitoring the processes/equipment, assist and give inputs to financial studies, initiate and give inputs to HAZOP studies and do risk analysis to maximise the equipment’s efficiency.
- Liaise with internal clients, project managers, process engineering and maintenance support personnel and communicate technical information to cross‑functional team members to ensure optimal service delivery.
- Liaise with external suppliers and service providers; communicate technical information to ensure optimal product and service delivery.
- Write technical reports, as part of motivation for modifications to improve productivity output on plant and equipment. Generate new documentation if affected by projects/modifications/upgrades.
- Generate and implement new ideas for improving processes while keeping abreast of relevant and new process information by conducting technical research.
- Maintains and adheres to appropriate regulations within OHS Act, Explosives Act, and implements ISO and NOSA standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Engineering. Adheres and implements RDM Policies and Procedures to maintain high production and engineering standards.
- Work effectively with engineers, technicians, maintenance personnel, supervisors, and floor personnel to resolve day‑to‑day issues.
- Provides technically innovative counsel/coaching to plant personnel to aid the simplification of engineering and technical skills transfer and identifying technical training needs.
- Provides input for capital, maintenance and overhead budgets/forecasts/modifications and project costs and identifies cost saving opportunities.
- Reduced operational downtime as a result of equipment/facility failures.
- Reduction of cost associated to equipment/facility maintenance through effective reliability engineering.
- Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy.
- Sc. Degree in Mechanical/Electrical or Mechatronics.
- At least 7 years’ experience as Engineer in the Production, Maintenance, Reliability or Asset Integrity department of which 3 years should have been in a leadership role.
- Must hold a valid Government Certificate of Competency (GCC).
- Knowledge of SHE/OHS/Quality Systems.
- Explosives Act and relevant legislation will be advantageous.
- SAP literate (Plant Maintenance module).
