Key Responsibilities:

PROJECT OFFICER- VOCATIONAL SKILLS

Purpose of the position:

The Vocational Skills Officer is responsible for overseeing the effective implementation of a vocational skills development project designed to train young people and connect them to pathways for employment or self‑employment. The role requires close collaboration with the National Handicraft Training Center and UNDP to ensure that project activities are delivered on time, to a high standard, and with measurable impact.

The Field officer shall be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Design, coordinate, and oversee vocational skills training programs.
  • Ensure training curricula are market‑driven, inclusive, and aligned with project priorities.
  • Facilitate timely delivery of training activities in collaboration with the National Handicraft Training Center.
  • Coordinate internship, apprenticeship, and job placement opportunities for graduates.
  • Engage local organizations to mobilize financial and technical support for vocational skills programming.
  • Facilitate linkages between trained youth and financial service providers, ensuring access to credit.
  • Develop and apply tools to track trainee progress, employment/self‑employment outcomes, and program impact.
  • Produce timely reports, success stories, and case studies for donor engagement and advocacy.
  • Document lessons learned and recommend improvements for future vocational programming.
  • Monitor adherence to timelines, budgets, and operational guidelines.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies, ensuring safe and inclusive participation for all beneficiaries.
  • The successful candidate shall possess the following qualifications:

    The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Minimum Qualification and experience required: A degree in Community Development, Education or any related.
  • At least 3–5 years’ experience in vocational training, livelihoods, or youth empowerment programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, and good implementation ability meeting all targets.
  • Siswati and English communication skills (oral and written)
  • Computer literate in Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview emotional maturity
  • Capacity to function well in a team and contribute effectively to team efforts
  • Proven networking abilities at local and international levels
  • Commitment and ability to inspire others to World Vision Core Values, Vision, and Mission Statement.
