job description purpose of the positionproviding quality service regarding teaching and learning, research and innovation, and community engagement and commercialisation activities within the subject group: afrikaans for education.
teaching and learning- teaching a variety of afrikaans modules within a multi-modal delivery approach of teacher training programmes at under- and postgraduate level. Expertise and experience of teaching afrikaans at school and/or a higher education institution are required.
- perform research in the fields of language learning and teaching. Produce research outputs in an area of language education research.
- active participation in the development of community-based research by adapting and designing modules for service learning.
- planning, organising and record keeping as part of office and subject (module) administration in accordance with faculty’s teaching policy and close collaboration with the subject group (meetings).
- active participation in order to ope rationalise the work integrated learning (wil) programme at all levels.
- a ba or bachelor of education honours (bedhons) degree in afrikaans or afrikaans education or relevant to afrikaans teaching or learning (nqf level
8). - a professional teacher’s qualification with specialisation in language teaching methodologies / didactics (nqf level
7). - a minimum of one (1) year functional experience in primary, secondary or tertiary teaching.
- registration with sace.
- subject knowledge: afrikaans hl and/or fal, preferably within the field of afrikaans linguistics.
- teaching skills: language methodology and didactics.
- assessment competencies.
- computer literate (microsoft office suite).
- high standard of work ethics.
- communication.
- able to work individually as well as part of a subject group (team).
- ability to create own structures, adhere to deadlines and work in a self-directed manner.
