Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Grampian for 2 whole-time equivalent Locum Consultant Urological Surgeons to join our existing team of eleven Consultants at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The contract will be for 12 months.

The Urology Department within NHS Grampian is a progressive and welcoming team based in a major University teaching hospital with strong links to the academic department within Aberdeen University. The department provides regional major pelvic cancer, robotic and stone services to the north of Scotland as well as core Urology to the population of NHS Grampian. The team has consistently led the way on the development of treatment options for patients across the north of Scotland and in recent years have introduced robotic surgery, a fixed-site lithotripsy service and HOLEP.

Responsibilities

Support the work of the existing team in the Urology department and contribute to the development of the service across Grampian and the North of Scotland. In particular, participate in regional major pelvic cancer, robotic and stone services and help to advance treatment options such as robotic surgery, fixed-site lithotripsy and HOLEP.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post).
  • Wide knowledge of and experience in all major branches of Urology, including core Urology.
  • Forward thinking and collaborative approach to the role and the development of the service.
