Role Overview
The Junior Accounts and Admin Clerk provides day-to-day support to the finance and administrative functions of the business. This role is suited to a detail-oriented individual with basic accounting knowledge and strong organisational skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts / Finance Support
- Capture supplier invoices, credit notes, and expenses accurately
- Assist with debtors and creditors processing
- Prepare and issue customer invoices
- Allocate payments and reconcile debtor accounts
- Assist with bank reconciliations
- Process petty cash and staff expense claims
- Support month-end procedures and audit preparation
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
- Liaise with suppliers and customers regarding account queries
- General office administration and filing (physical and electronic)
- Answer and redirect phone calls and emails professionally
- Prepare basic reports and spreadsheets
- Assist with document control and record keeping
- Order stationery and office supplies
- Support HR admin such as leave records and employee files (if required)
- Grade 12 (Matric) – essential
- Certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or Office Administration (advantageous)
- 1–2 years’ experience in a similar junior accounts or admin role
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Experience with accounting software (e.g. Sage Pastel, Xero, Quick Books) – advantageous
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong numerical ability
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Professional communication skills (verbal and written)
- Honest, reliable, and able to handle confidential information
- Willingness to learn and grow within the finance function
