Accountant, Financial Reporting, Tax Accountant

Our client, a property development company based in Morningside, Durban
, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their team on a permanent, office-based basis
.

The role supports the Senior Accountant and involves full accounting functions within a deadline-driven environment.

Morningside, Durban
Office-based | Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00

• Relevant qualification in the accounting field (BCom Accounting preferred)
• SAIPA registration advantageous
• Minimum 5 years accounting experience (articles advantageous)
• Strong experience in journals, cashbooks, and bank reconciliations
• Solid knowledge of Income Tax and VAT
• Property development industry experience advantageous
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Able to work under pressure during tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills
• Deadline-driven with strong organisational ability
• Able to work independently and within a team
• Fully computer literate

• Bank account capturing and review
• Bank reconciliations review and analysis
• Lease smoothing journals review
• Review of consultant schedules for anomalies
• Completion of loan matrix and monthly intercompany loan matching
• Depreciation postings
• Maintenance and review of the fixed asset register
• Review of repairs and maintenance schedules
  
  Review of intercompany postings and schedules on ERP systems
• Review of payments and creditor reconciliations
• Loading payments and performing vendor checks on banking platforms
• Bond reconciliations review and analysis
• Interest calculations and reviews
• Monthly accrual reviews and postings
• Preparation of management accounts
• Preparation of responses to audit verifications (VAT, Income Tax, Provisional Tax)
• Assistance with VAT and company deregistrations
• Provisional and income tax calculations
• Year-end audit pack preparation
• Ad hoc and additional finance-related tasks
