Junior Accountant

SUMMARY

Type: Permanent | Full-Time
Manufacturing concern is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. This developmental role provides foundational accounting experience and equips the successful candidate with the skills and exposure necessary to progress towards a fully‑fledged Accountant position within the group.

The Junior Accountant will support the finance function through accurate processing of financial transactions, basic reconciliations, and maintenance of general ledgers. This role references the full Accountant Job Description but includes selected duties at an introductory level to support growth.

• Capture and process supplier invoices accurately and time‑synchronously
• Capture and process customer invoices and credit notes
• Perform supplier statement reconciliations and follow up on discrepancies
• Follow up on proof of deliveries and ensure customer statements are issued time‑synchronously
• Resolve internal and external queries related to customers and suppliers
• Post and reconcile customer payments and update debtor schedules for cash‑flow
• Developmental exposure (under supervision) may include assisting with month‑end journals and inventory costing reviews

• Attention to detail and accuracy in transactional processing
• Good numeracy and analytical skills
• Time management and task prioritisation
• Integrity and discretion when handling confidential data
• Ability to follow processes and elevate deviations
• Enthusiasm to learn and grow in the financial accounting discipline
• Fluency in English and Afrikaans is required

• Microsoft Excel (Intermediate level)
• Accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, Quick Books, Pastel)
• ERP systems (data entry, purchase order processing)

• National Diploma or BCom Degree in Accounting (or currently in final year of study)
• 1 year experience in an accounting support role or finance internship (advantageous)
• Familiarity with basic accounting principles and financial statements
