Position: HVAC Design Engineer (MEP) – South Windsor, CT

Full time. Salary: $50 - $60 per hour.

• Engineer and design hydronic and air-side HVAC systems for design-build projects.
• Produce construction documents for HVAC systems, coordinating with other trades and vendors, reviewing vendor submittals, and field verifying existing conditions.
• Conduct energy analysis of existing buildings, develop energy efficiency improvement measures, perform ASHRAE Level I and II audits, life‑cycle cost analysis, and execute field surveys to assess existing systems.
• Collaborate closely with project salespeople, engineers, project managers, and field supervisors to meet proposal and construction schedules.
• Provide technical support for all company operations, including troubleshooting of systems and equipment as directed.
• Review design and layout of selected projects created by other personnel under guidance of the Engineering Manager.
• Develop proposals in cooperation with salespeople.
• Travel locally to regional job sites to assist with design and documentation of mechanical systems.

• Knowledge of HVAC and energy engineering calculations and ability to evaluate existing systems and equipment operation.
• Graduate of a recognized mechanical engineering program with a minimum of 4 years design experience; energy analysis experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading for architectural and building trades.
• Understanding of sheet metal and hydronic piping layout and fabrication.
• Ability to coordinate with other building trades.
• Experience in designing HVAC systems; plumbing design experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with Trane Trace is a plus.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit/BIM software with application of industry‑standard drafting principles.
