We are looking for a proactive and pragmatic Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor who enjoys working alongside managers and site teams, not policing them. You will be someone who can build strong relationships, understands the realities of a manufacturing environment, and can translate legislation into practical, workable solutions.
You will be confident supporting managers to take ownership of Health & Safety, providing clear guidance, constructive challenge, and hands-on support to help embed safe working practices into day-to-day operations. A positive, solution-focused mindset and the ability to influence at all levels are essential.
You should be comfortable working across multiple sites, managing competing priorities, and travelling as required. Most importantly, you will share our belief that effective Health & Safety is about working with people to make work safer, not finding fault.
What You Will Be Doing- Work in partnership with managers and supervisors across all locations to support the practical application of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) measures
- Develop, implement, and regularly review EHS strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure they are legally compliant, fit for purpose, and operationally practical
- Manage a wide range of Health & Safety matters including accident and incident management, record keeping, inspections, risk assessments, and report writing
- Manage Environmental issues including environmental protection, pollution control, noise control, waste management, and quality assurance
- Promote and embed a positive safety culture where injury prevention and damage control are integral to organisational strategy
- Make informed Environmental and Health & Safety recommendations to improve organisational standards and safety performance
- Manage and maintain the Risk Management System (Target
100), Group reporting system, and incident reporting app (TIA) in conjunction with HR and all managers - Communicate effectively at all levels to raise awareness, educate, inform, and positively influence behavioral safety
- Monitor changes in legislation, regulations, and codes of practice and advise management accordingly
- Inform management of new legislation, changes to existing legislation, and matters involving significant expenditure
- Ensure all managers are provided with access to appropriate training, information, and professional advice
- Assess and advise on the suitability of protective clothing and equipment, conduct trials, and produce reports where required
- Conduct risk assessments including COSHH, DSE, and manual handling assessments. Prepare and implement Safe Systems of Work at all business areas as required
- Carry out site inspections and audits as a supportive assurance activity, focusing on improvement actions and shared learning
- Conduct site audits and produce detailed reports identifying improvements and recommendations
- Lead and organise Environmental, Health & Safety in-house training
- Maintain accurate records and produce Environmental, Health & Safety reports and statistical data as required
- Record incidents and accidents, conduct investigations, and report findings to the HSE Committee, relevant sites, and stakeholders
- Coordinate all RIDDOR-reportable incidents, ensuring thorough investigation, timely reporting to authorities and insurers, and implementation of remedial actions
- Lead and participate in Health & Safety Committee meetings, preparing all required documentation and reports
- Liaise with Group Health & Safety teams and attend meetings to support shared best practice and corporate strategy
- Work closely with HR, branch networks, relevant authorities, and insurance providers in relation to any injury claims
- Communicate professionally and courteously with all employees and external agencies, maintaining positive working relationships
- Demonstrate continued commitment to development through training courses, seminars, presentations, and site visits
- Work in accordance with company policies, including code of conduct, health & safety, disciplinary and grievance procedures, equal opportunities, dignity at work, social media policy, and GDPR
- Support and take ownership of sustainability activities, including collating data and reporting on performance, working with managers to embed sustainable practices into day-to-day operations. Training will be provided; prior experience is desirable but not essential.

- Experience in a Health & Safety or EHS advisory role within a manufacturing or multi-site operational environment
- Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety and Environmental legislation
- Collaborative, solution-focused approach with the ability to work alongside managers rather than police them
- Experience with risk assessments (including COSHH, manual handling, and DSE) and incident investigation, including RIDDOR
