Neighbors, Inc is experiencing rapid growth in our Financial Empowerment Center. We are seeking a bi-lingual (Spanish / English) Career and Financial Coach who wants to serve their community through meaningful and life changing direct services. This position requires an individual who is deeply compassionate, empathetic, and driven to want to help others.

This position works directly with clients to increase financial capability and wellbeing through the application of person-centered, strength based coaching techniques. In addition, this position assists clients who lack stability in their basic needs.

Founded by volunteers over 50 years ago, Neighbors, Inc. is a non-profit serving predominately northern Dakota County communities with high dignity basic needs services (Hunger Relief, Clothing and Community Resources) and Financial Empowerment services (jobs, training, and financial education) to help lift community members out of poverty. Today, with the tremendous support of our volunteers, Neighbors is a pillar of support and unity in our community.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Promote improved financial capability and wellbeing by providing financial coaching and education focusing on reducing asset poverty, wealth divides, and disparities in 1:1 and small group settings
  • Support financial growth through job-based coaching, educational pathway guidance and employment based self-advocacy
  • Facilitate goal identification and setting, support clients in their achievement process
  • Case management from interviewing clients to assess and gather information, make referrals, and assist with completing applications to available programs
  • Conduct work readiness training in 1:1 and small group setting covering topics including resume development and interviewing assistance
  • Actively participate in financial empowerment program planning, implementation, and evaluation to assess outcomes and impacts
  • Build community awareness of program offerings through recruitment and outreach activities and informational sessions
  • Develop a network of partnerships for accessible referrals
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation on participant enrollees and effectively use software (Apricot and Workforce One) for reporting and data analysis
  • The ability to be part of a collaborative team and the willingness to “jump in” where needed
Job Qualifications:

Minimum:
  • 1 to 3 years of experience with financial and/or job coaching
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A demonstrably equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
  • Fully Bilingual:
    Spanish/English both written and spoken
Preferred:
  • Proven familiarity with local and surrounding community
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to assess social, economic, emotional and health needs of diverse, underserved, disenfranchised, and economically challenged communities and individuals
  • Knowledge of best practices in personal finance, financial products, and services
  • Understand and facilitate access to federal, state, county and other social-economic programs and services
  • Working knowledge on current work readiness trends and practices
  • Capability to create pathways to employment opportunities for diverse populations
  • Knowledge of motivational, or other coaching techniques and styles
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to advise people in crisis and make decisions, which lead to resolution
  • Salesforce, Apricot, Workforce One or other CRM database experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Able to be discreet and manage confidential information
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to bend, sit, stand, and lift up to 25 pounds without risk of injury to self
  • Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods
Additional Information:

  • Periodically able to work evenings and weekends
  • Pass criminal, credit and vehicular background checks
