Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Education Assistant to join South St. Paul Summer Learning Academy. This role is designed for individuals passionate about working with children and supporting educational activities during a fun and engaging summer program. The Education Assistant will provide instructional and logistical support to educators and help create a positive learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist lead instructors in planning and delivering educational activities.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in various subjects, including but not limited to math, reading, arts, and STEM.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, outdoor play, and other events.
  • Support classroom management and ensure a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
  • Help prepare and organize materials and resources for daily lessons and activities.
  • Monitor student progress and assist with assessments or evaluations as directed by the instructor.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes curiosity and collaboration.
  • Assist with any additional tasks or special projects as needed by the program.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; pursuing or completed a degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with children, colleagues, and parents.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a passion for fostering stud
  • Must pass background checks as required by local regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to actively participate in physical activities (e.g., sports, outdoor play).
  • Able to lift and carry materials, equipment, and supplies (up to 20 pounds).
  • Ability to sit, stand, or move around for extended periods
