Overview
The Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector position provides quality standards by monitoring throughout the plant. This includes verification of raw material receipts, taking raw material samples, and verifying finished packaged product. QA Inspectors are required to lift and move raw material samples and boxed products. The inspector works as a team member in overall management of the facility and may participate in tests and pilot runs of new and improved products, evaluating the results of the pilot programs.
Prepare technical reports related to research and development (R&D) and assist R&D in developing products that are consistent with our expectations for quality, safety, value, and wholesomeness. Responsible for taking product samples, performing various tests, and analyzing lab results from such test samples, including trending, grading, quality, and functionality validation. QA personnel also participate in design reviews and provide feedback on error detection for new products and process quality.
- Inspect all machinery and structures to ensure compliance standards are met, including cleanliness after sanitation processes and prior to startup of operations. Report to management any areas not meeting cleanliness standards and perform re-inspection prior to startup of operations.
- Perform audits and monitor for potential foreign material sources, reporting all findings to management in a timely manner. Inspect and test equipment, including verifying scale accuracy, swab tests, metal detection system sensitivity, and confirming sanitizing equipment is functioning as required.
- Maintain compliance by monitoring and inspecting the condition of areas such as freezers, hand-wash sinks, locker rooms, overhead structures, ceilings, outside grounds, docks, drains, and pest control. Inspect and monitor employees for proper sanitation equipment use (hairnets, beard nets, frocks, gloves, etc.) and report findings to management in a timely manner.
- Inspect raw material trailers, including seals, recording and monitoring set points and temperatures. Verify trailers are from approved supplier lists and perform core sampling tests.
- Complete product adjustment forms, damaged box reports, and sparse lean claim forms accurately and in a timely manner for corporate personnel.
- Perform regularly scheduled product sampling for various micro and analytical tests. Accurately record sampling data and ensure accurate labeling, packaging, and shipping of product samples to specified laboratories.
- Conduct inspections on finished products and place products on hold for additional inspection as needed; coordinate stopping production when necessary.
- Measure and record quality factors of finished products such as fat, protein, temperature, and color.
- Inspect and manifest all finished products, including visual inspections, inspecting liners, gathering product temperatures, and taking product samples.
- Provide coverage and assistance in other areas as needed and perform inventory checks for QA supplies and materials.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Basic math and writing skills.
- General computer knowledge and proficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Accuracy with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow directions.

- Effective communication with all levels of employees in verbal and written form.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 60 lbs.
- Must be willing and able to walk, stand, twist, reach, bend, climb, and lift.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends.
Experience in a food or restaurant environment is preferred.
EducationHigh School diploma or equivalent is required. Verifiable ability to perform essential job functions will be considered.
