Overview
Ravensworth Surgery hasan exciting opportunity for a registered Practice Nurse to join our team. We have a patient population of just shy of 6000patients spread across 2 surgeries in South Tyneside. We are a friendly practice looking for an experienced practice nurse to work with us.
The post holder is responsible for the delivery of basic practice nursing services and care to the practice population.
The postholder will work collaboratively with other members of the general practice team in order to meet the needs of the patient, and may need to liaise with members of the wider community teams. A full job role and person spec is available but this site does not offer sufficient space to include it here.
- Immunisations, screening (including cervical screening), opportunistic consultations, chronic disease reviews, ear care, wound management, health promotion and contraceptive advice/review.
- Collaborate with the GP partners and wider community and hospital teams to ensure holistic delivery of care.
- Initiate and manage a methodical assessment of patient needs including public health, health education and promotion in consultation with the GP partners.
- Assist in the development of clinical protocols and guidelines, including infection control, and audit such as infection control.
- Ensure maintenance of equipment, storage of vaccinations and stock levels relating to patient care.
- Registered General Nurse with full PRACTICE NURSE training and experience.
- Recognised qualification to diploma level or higher, and trained in primary care practice nursing (e.g., 2-year practice nurse training).
- Full driving licence and own transport.
- Competent in basic nursing duties and knowledge of chronic disease management and NHS screening programmes.
- Good communication skills and strict confidentiality.
- Ability to manage workload priorities and work in a changing environment.
- Flexibility in working hours to cover sickness/holidays as required.
- Desirable certificates in chronic disease management, immunisation training, cervical cytology taker training, EMIS Web experience and chronic disease management.

- Participate in any training programme implemented by the practice, including annual performance reviews and ongoing development.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
