Job Summary
CHoICE Facilities Services are seeking several passionate, hardworking and reliable individuals to join our team and fulfil the role of Domestic Assistant, working at South Tyneside Hospital.
If you are ambitious, caring, a team player and strive to deliver high standards services, we would like to hear from YOU! Working hours span from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week. We are seeking a flexible domestic assistant committed to maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards across the site. This role demands adaptability, as shift patterns may change weekly.
Job Responsibilities- Maintain an acceptable standard of cleanliness in the allocated areas using the correct cleaning methods, frequencies, materials and equipment, cleaning to the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2021. Cleaning is carried out in wards and departments throughout the organisation.
- Carry out all cleaning assigned, making full use of guidance and training given, using checklists provided.
- Ensure all necessary equipment/machinery is fit for purpose before use and ensure it is cleaned and correctly stored after use.
- Use all materials and consumables in accordance with laid‑down practices.
- Collection, segregation and disposal of waste materials and replacement of liners in accordance with policies.
- Packing, sorting, delivering and collecting linen.
- Undertake manual and mechanical cleaning activities in accordance with the cleaning schedule.
- Ensure that all cleaning schedules are completed and checked on a daily basis.
- Refill all dispensers including soap, hand towels, toilet rolls and all paper rolls.
- Clean in close proximity to patients including beds, windows, curtain rails, window ledges, tables and lockers.
- Work safely at all times giving due consideration to yourself and others.
- Use the appropriate work equipment and PPE provided, reporting any maintenance, safety deficiencies and incidents to a supervisory team member.
- Maintain cleanliness of entrances, work areas and grounds as necessary.
- Provide flexible support for wall washing during times of service escalation, if required.
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
- Range of routine work procedures requiring on‑the‑job training (essential).
- Experience of Domestic Work or Catering (desirable).
- Food Safety Level 2 qualification (desirable).
Salary: £26,101 a year pro rata for part time.
