We are seeking a SEND Graduate Teaching Assistant to work closely with teachers and support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in the classroom. You will help deliver targeted interventions, support individual or small-group learning, and assist pupils in engaging with the secondary curriculum. This role offers practical experience in a supportive school environment.

Secondary schools across South Tyneside are recruiting a SEND Graduate Teaching Assistant to provide focused support for students across Key Stages 3 and 4. This role is ideal for graduates considering a future in education, SEND support, or teacher training.

Key responsibilities:
  • Supporting learning for students with SEND within mainstream and adapted lessons
  • Working with individuals or small groups to deliver interventions
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation, activities, and resources
  • Helping students engage with lessons and make progress
Requirements:
  • A degree in any subject area
  • Experience working with young people (preferred but not essential)
  • A strong interest in SEND, inclusive education, and classroom support

This position provides excellent preparation for PGCE, SCITT, or School Direct teacher training routes, particularly for those wishing to specialise in SEND.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
