Teaching Assistant
Milk Education is proud to partner with a number of inclusive, welcoming, and high-achieving primary schools across South Tyneside. We are currently recruiting committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
We have a range of opportunities available including day-to-day supply, short-term placements, and long-term roles, offering flexibility to suit your availability and career goals.
This role is ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants, qualified Level 2 or Level 3 practitioners, graduates considering teacher training, or individuals with relevant transferable experience.
Teaching Assistant– Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality classroom support across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions in literacy and numeracy
Support the implementation of phonics programmes (e.g., Read Write Inc. or similar schemes)
Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and resource management
Support pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech & language needs
Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and positive learning behaviours
Supervise pupils during transitions, break times, and enrichment activities
Observe, monitor, and report on pupil progress
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Previous experience working in a primary school or with children of primary age
A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable)
Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum
Confidence supporting phonics, early reading, and numeracy development
A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
