Our Graduates into Teaching Pathway offers an exceptional opportunity to gain paid, hands‑on experience as a Teaching Assistant in schools across the South Shields area. This tailored programme provides a clear route into education, equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to take the next step towards teacher training. Most commonly, you will be working with SEND pupils either in a mainstream school or in a SEND school for a number of weeks during your training.

• Support pupils both in small groups and one‑to‑one across secondary, SEN, and primary schools.
• Work closely with experienced teachers and support staff to deliver high‑quality learning experiences.
• Gain practical classroom experience while developing essential skills in behaviour management, lesson planning, and pupil support.
• Be placed in schools close to your home for convenience.

• A degree in any subject with a minimum 2:2 classification (or predicted).
• GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• A proactive and adaptable attitude in a fast‑paced school environment.
• A genuine passion for education and working with young people.
• Two referees we can contact as part of the application process.
• A valid DBS certificate on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
