We’re working with a specialist setting in South Tyneside that provides education for pupils aged 3 to 16 with a wide range of additional needs. From speech and language support to complex SEMH needs, this school creates personalised learning journeys that meet every child exactly where they are.

It’s a vibrant, supportive environment where the emphasis is on helping pupils thrive-academically, socially, and emotionally. Staff work in close partnership with therapists, families, and each other to build consistency, trust, and progress that lasts.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting pupils with diverse learning, behavioural, and communication needs

• Helping to create safe, engaging, and structured classroom spaces

• Working 1:1 and in small groups to build confidence, independence, and social skills

• Contributing to a whole-school ethos built on patience, high expectations, and genuine care

What we’re looking for:

• Experience in SEND settings or the drive to learn quickly on the job

• A calm, consistent approach to behaviour and communication

• Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a strong team

Extra training helps—especially Thrive, Team Teach, or equivalent-but it’s not a deal-breaker. If you’re not trained yet, we’ll provide free access to Thrive training to support your development and boost your confidence in the classroom.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
