About the Spatial Omics LabThe Spatial Omics lab, embedded within Genentech’s Pathology Department, is part of the Research and Early Development (gRED) Organization. We are committed to generating high-quality spatial proteomics and transcriptomics data at scale to drive novel biological insights from pathological tissue samples.
Our work directly supports early- and late-stage research, translational efforts, and foundational model generation across a broad range of therapeutic areas. We provide end-to-end workflows in close collaboration with the Digital Pathology Image Analysis team.
The RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and independent Scientist to join our Spatial Omics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, interpreting, and reporting complex Spatial Proteomics and/or Spatial Transcriptomics experiments using cutting-edge platforms and workflows.
Key Responsibilities- Independently design, plan, conduct, and interpret spatial omics studies with minimal supervision.
- Execute complex experiments utilizing advanced spatial technologies, including:
- 10x Genomics Xenium
- 10x Genomics Visium
- COMET
- Interpret experimental data and adjust experimental design appropriately with minimal guidance from investigators, pathologists, or lab leadership.
- Present study progress and results at internal and external meetings.
- Collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment and maintain strong partnerships to support seamless end-to-end workflows.
- Maintain complete scientific records, evaluate experimental outcomes, draw conclusions, and align lab work with team objectives.
- Adhere to Spatial Omics lab WKDs, timelines, and study deliverables; report to the lab manager.
- Independently research internal and external sources to inform study design and experimental layout.
- Execute established image and data management processes such as image alignment, conversion, and related workflows
.
