Overview
Seeking an entry level Biology/Microbiology/RA to do a variety of tasks but a big part of the job is to help with receiving and processing tissue samples that are delivered to the lab. These arrive mid-day every week, Tuesday–Friday. The hours can be flexible but likely 10:00 – 2:30ish Tuesday–Friday.
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our Target Discovery team focused at the interface of immunotherapy and genomics research. This position will work hands-on with primary human tissues and cutting-edge single-cell technologies to support discovery and validation of novel therapeutic targets. The role offers exposure to the full pipeline – from tissue banking and processing to single cell genomics and experimental validation.
This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate seeking industry research experience in immunology, cancer biology, or single-cell genomics.
- Coordinate, receive, and bank fresh human tissue samples from CROs and external partners.
- Organize, track, and manage tissue samples stored in LN2, ensuring accurate inventory and documentation.
- Perform dissociation of fresh primary human tissues into single-cell suspensions using enzymatic and/or mechanical methods.
- Execute single-cell RNA-seq workflows, including cell preparation, FACS, and library preparation.
- Set up, operate, and maintain flow cytometry instruments and cell sorters.
- Maintain and expand cell lines using sterile cell culture techniques.
- Perform target antibody screening workflows using flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blotting, and related methods.
- Analyze and document experimental results; contribute to internal datasets and presentations.
- Collaborate with computational and translational scientists to interpret data and support identification of candidate therapeutic targets.
- B.S. or M.S. in biological sciences or a related field (immunology, cancer biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and/or bioengineering).
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing biological samples and associated metadata.
- Hands-on experience with wet-lab techniques, such as mammalian cell culture and sterile technique.
- Familiarity with primary tissue handling, tissue dissociation, or single-cell workflows is a plus.
- Familiarity with FACS and/or flow cytometry.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex protocols.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
- Direct, hands-on experience with primary human tissues, single-cell genomics, and novel therapeutic target biology.
- Exposure to real-world therapeutic target discovery and validation in an industry setting.
- Mentorship from experienced scientists and opportunities to present your work.
- A front-row seat to how cutting-edge biology translates into drug development.
