Our client, a pioneering biotechnology company, is looking for a skilled Research Technician to join their team in South San Francisco, CA.
Location: On-site, South San Francisco, CA
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6-month contract (with possibility of extension)
Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Technician II to support a cutting-edge functional genomics program focused on large-scale, high-throughput DNA cis-regulatory element screening. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, executing advanced molecular biology and high-content screening experiments.
The successful candidate will contribute to massively parallel reporter assay (MPRA) screens across a variety of cell types to generate datasets that support machine learning model development. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in state-of-the-art genomic technologies and collaborative, interdisciplinary research.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute advanced molecular and cell biology experiments in functional genomics
- Perform large-scale MPRA screens across multiple cell types
- Execute complex genomics protocols, including custom DNA/RNA amplicon preparation and sequencing
- Maintain and culture primary cells, including iPSCs and/or T cells
- Perform molecular biology techniques such as molecular cloning, flow cytometry, and quantitative PCR
- Generate and analyze NGS libraries; contribute to scRNA-seq and/or scMPRA workflows as applicable
- Communicate experimental results clearly and collaborate on iterative experimental design
- Contribute to team-based science and technology development efforts
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
- 2–5 years of hands-on laboratory experience
- Strong background in designing and executing cell and molecular biology experiments
- Experience performing complex genomics protocols
- Self-motivated, analytical, highly organized, and detail-oriented
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with massively parallel reporter assays (MPRA)
- Primary cell culture experience; iPSC and/or T cell culture preferred
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Viral vector technologies (e.g., lentivirus)
- NGS library design and generation
- scRNA-seq and/or scMPRA
