Role Summary
Neurodegenerative diseases are one of the largest medical challenges of our time. Denali Therapeutics is a biotechnology company dedicated to developing breakthrough therapies for neurodegenerative diseases through our deep commitment to degeneration biology and principles of translational medicine. Denali is founded on the collaboration of leading scientists, industry experts, and investors who share the vision that scientific discovery energetically applied to translational medicine is the key to delivering effective therapies to patients.
We are looking for a highly motivated and collaborative scientist to join our Bioprocess Development team, focused on cell line development (CLD). The successful candidate will be joining a multidisciplinary team to generate commercially viable cell lines for novel and complex therapeutic molecules including bispecific antibodies, Fc fusion proteins, and enzyme fusions.
- Support the development of Denali’s mammalian biotherapeutic production platform to generate commercially viable cell lines.
- Execute cell line development activities including transfection, selection, single cell sorting, clone imaging, clone selection, and clone banking for pipeline projects.
- Design, execute, and interpret cell line development experiments in collaboration with other scientists in the group, including the use of JMP statistical software for DOE experiments and generating figures.
- Write technical and summary reports including cell line development reports which serve as source documents for regulatory filings, effectively communicate findings with cross-functional teams, and participate in scientific discussions with scientific teams.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebook and relevant documentation. Cross-functionally support cell culture process development through bioreactor production runs and DOE-based screening experiments as necessary.
- Evaluate, optimize, and implement characterization assays such as qPCR, Western blots, and flow cytometry.
- BA/BS or MS degree in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Cell Biology or related field. Technical proficiency in mammalian cell culture and upstream process development preferably in an industrial laboratory.
- 2+ years of experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Experience in CHO cell line development for biologics preferred.
- Proficiency with protein characterization techniques such as Octet, SDS-PAGE, Caliper, and HPLC.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, analyze, and interpret experimental data, specifically in JMP and Excel.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other scientists in cross-functional project teams.
- Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills.
