Associate Scientist / Scientist I, Protein Sciences, Biophysical Assays, SPR
Department: Technology
Position Summary:
At TCG Labs‑Soleil, we are building a team of scientists driven to push the boundaries of therapeutic discovery. We are seeking a motivated
Associate Scientist/Scientist Ito join our Protein Sciences team and contribute directly to the advancement of a diverse biologics pipeline.
This is a hands‑on, bench‑focused role responsible for the design, execution, and analysis of label‑free interaction assays to characterize antibodies and protein‑protein interactions across biologics discovery and development programs. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to generate high‑quality, actionable data that informs key program decisions. The successful candidate will bring strong technical experience in surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and biolayer interferometry (BLI) and will thrive in a fast‑paced startup environment where every experiment matters and individual contributions have immediate impact.
We’re seeking a scientist who is adaptable, collaborative, and excited to have a visible impact on the direction and success of therapeutic development efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Design, execute, and analyze high‑to‑medium‑throughput biosensor‑based interaction assays (SPR, BLI), including antibody screening, epitope binning, and binding kinetics.
- Develop, optimize, and implement biosensor assay methods to support biologics discovery and development efforts, spanning early discovery through lead optimization and development candidate selection (e.g. monoclonal antibodies, bispecifics, multispecifics, fusion proteins, etc.).
- Generate high‑quality, reproducible data in a timely manner and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to interpret results and support program‑level decision‑making.
- Troubleshoot assay‑related technical challenges and contribute to continuous improvement of assay workflows, data quality, and reliability.
- Operate and maintain biosensor instrumentation, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to best laboratory practices.
- Maintain clear, thorough documentation of experimental protocols, results, and data analysis.
- Communicate scientific findings by presenting experimental results in team meetings and cross‑departmental forums, fostering collaboration and enabling data‑informed decisions.
Qualifications:
- M.S. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or B.S. with 10+ years of relevant experience. Prior experience in pharma, biotech, or startup environments is required; startup experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong, hands‑on experience with SPR and BLI (e.g. Carterra, Biacore, Gator, Octet, or other biosensor platforms)
- Solid understanding of binding kinetics, affinity measurement experiments, and data analysis/fitting tools.
- Demonstrated experience with antibody screening, epitope binning, and binding kinetics assays.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot technical challenges and adapt quickly in a dynamic research environment.
- Must demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high data quality, precision, and attention to every detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated commitment to clear experimental documentation.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and enthusiastic about working in a fast‑paced startup environment.
- Proven ability to deliver results in a dynamic, highly multitasking research setting.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an inclusive, team‑oriented environment.
- Experience with small molecule‑protein interaction analysis is a plus.
- Experience or familiarity with automation and liquid handling systems is a plus.
