OVERVIEW OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
The South San Francisco Unified School District (SSFUSD) community includes 15 schools supporting 8,000 students in Daly City, San Bruno, and South San Francisco.

In February 2024, the School Board for SSFUSD adopted our new Vision and Five-Year Strategic Plan. As a senior leader, the Director will be responsible for leading and supporting initiatives to ensure the district delivers on its promises in the Strategic Plan.
POSITION SUMMARYESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Plan, organize, control and direct the activities and operations of the Facilities Department including the construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of District buildings, facilities and equipment; assure a safe environment for District students and staff; analyze and plan the use of labor and funds to assure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
Provide recommendations to administrators regarding the strategic planning and development of capital growth projects, modernization and alteration projects, renovation and remodeling projects and the maintenance and repair of District facilities and buildings.
Supervise the performance of assigned personnel; interview and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignment, termination and disciplinary actions.
Inspect and evaluate District buildings and facilities for need of repairs; develop and implement plans and programs to improve facilities and buildings; assure proper and timely repair or correction of unsafe conditions, equipment and facilities.
Provide technical expertise, information and assistance to the Associate Superintendent regarding assigned functions; assist in the formulation and development of policies, procedures and programs to assure an economical, safe and efficient work environment.
Estimate labor and material costs for various projects; review and approve purchase request in accordance with established guidelines; procure equipment, parts and labor for facilities maintenance and operations.
Design, direct and complete construction and alteration of new and existing District facilities including capital growth projects, modernization and alteration projects.
Direct District-wide energy conservation projects; develop and implement new methods of controlling utility costs.
Direct the Department's safety program assuring compliance with CAL/OSHA safety orders and other applicable health and safety laws, codes, rules and regulations.
Direct the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records and files related to assigned activities and personnel; prepare and submit State-required reports according to established guidelines and time lines; develop and prepare formal reports and submit to administration, the Board or other personnel as directed; maintain facility data and energy procedure guides.
Communicate with other administrators, vendors, regulatory agencies and other outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts and exchange information; communicate with fire and police department officials related to safety and security issues.
Develop and prepare the annual preliminary budget for the Facilities Department; analyze and review budgetary and financial data; control and authorize expenditures in accordance with established limitations; prioritize major project expenditures; review periodic budget reports, expenditures and other financial data; communicate with District administrators regarding budget requirements and implications.
Operate a computer and assigned software; operate other office equipment as assigned; drive a vehicle to various sites to conduct work.
Attend and conduct a variety of meetings as assigned; serve on assigned committees.
Authorize and direct responses to emergency situations.
