Geotypical Production Analyst 1’s primary role is to produce “Area-of-Interest” and wide-area feature population of the Company’s visual database using advanced geographic information system software techniques and machine learning/automation tools.
Location: The primary workplace for this position is Aechelon Technology’s South San Francisco Headquarters.
Citizenship requirement: United States citizenship required due to restrictions on access to certain data.
Responsibilities- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to execute program and internal tasks within milestones and deadlines.
- Use of Machine Learning and ML Model Training:
- Data Collection and Annotation:
Collecting and annotating training data, ensuring it is clean, labeled correctly, and sufficient for model training (vector and/or raster data related to features). - Data Preprocessing:
Cleaning, normalizing, and preparing data for model training, including handling missing values and outliers. This work may be passed back to the DAML team to update model for the feature
Gen tool. - Quality Assurance:
Conducting QA checks on data and models to ensure reliability and accuracy of outputs. - Feedback Loop Management:
Establishing and maintaining feedback loops to incorporate insights from model performance and user feedback into iterative improvements of the machine learning pipeline—primarily from the use or interaction with the feature
Gen tool. - Collaboration:
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as the DAML team and Integration teams. - Understanding all Program Input related to Geotypical production and QA processes (specs, SME input, site surveys, geospecific pointers, maps, charts, and internal resources).
- Production of Area-of-Interest and wide-area feature population using advanced feature population processes/tools. Elements include powerlines, railroads, walls, highways, trees (including ML-generated trees), building generation, rooftop clutter, vector bridges, and lightmaps.
- Feature processing and QA support/revisions for all Geotypical feature content.
- Geotypical Production support relating to internal tool development, testing, and research for potential 3rd party software options.
- Strong collaborative, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in GIS operations, including but not limited to:
- Data Layering (Overlay Analysis)
- Spatial Querying
- Buffering
- Georeferencing
- Spatial Joins
- Spatial Relates
- Expertise in QGIS and/or ESRI ArcGIS software.
- Understanding of 3D visual composition as it relates to real-world data for simulation (scaling, spatial orientation, color, texture).
- Basic knowledge of Cygwin bash shell.
- Basic knowledge of Perforce revision control.
- Experience in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- United States citizenship required due to access restrictions on certain data.
- Experience with QGIS and/or ESRI ArcGIS software.
- Familiarity with Geotypical production tools and processes.
- Use of Jira for issue/project tracking.
- Basic scripting and macro creation knowledge.
- Experience with Confluence and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word).

Education:
BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent employment history
Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 USD per year. This range is specific to California and may vary by location. Final compensation is based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
