The Payroll Specialist I supports the HR Payroll Department in processing Agency
payroll, report writing, and data entry into the Time and Attendance/Payroll systems.
Additionally the Payroll Specialist I supports the Accounting department in payroll
related General Ledger (GL) code and cost center data entry, audit reports, mileage
reimbursement, and other administrative duties as assigned. This role is hybrid (3 days onsite)
Responsibilities:
• Support payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely wage payments.
• Audit timesheets and resolve discrepancies with field staff.
• Assist with salary increases, wage garnishments, manual checks, and LOA compensation requests.
• Enter new hire data, process status changes, bonuses, and terminations in payroll systems.
• Maintain and update Time & Attendance/Payroll systems; generate reports for HR and Accounting.
• Manage GL codes, cost center updates, and mileage reimbursement uploads.
• Support year-end GL and cost center changes across payroll and mileage systems.
• Assist with uploading GL/cost center templates into the ATS/onboarding system.
• Complete administrative tasks, reports, and special projects as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent accounting experience.
• 2-3 years of payroll experience.
• Strong MS Excel skills (pivot tables, V-lookups).
• Experience with HRIS/Payroll systems.
• High attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to multitask.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with all levels of staff.
Meets all compliance requirements for licensed community care facilities (fingerprint clearance, TB/health screening, valid driver's license, clean driving record).
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience in a nonprofit or social services organization.
• Background supporting a multi-site organization.
