The RoleThe Gene Therapy group at Sono Thera is seeking to hire a Research Associate to become an integral part of the gene therapy drug development effort. We seek candidates who think critically and have the desire and ability to learn new techniques. This position requires adaptability and an ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment. A qualified candidate will have broad technical experience in sample processing for histology.
This job is a 6-month contract and will be expected to work 40 hours per week, with opportunity for conversion to full-time employee.
In this position, you will play an integral role in the histology analysis by establishing and executing a tissue processing pipeline on-site will work across teams to receive mouse, rat, and NHP tissue samples and prepare them for histology analysis.
What You Will Bring Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience
- Experience in processing and tracking histology samples
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Industry experience preferred
- Experience performing FFPE and OCT sample processing, embedding and sectioning for a variety of tissues and species. Experience preparing slides for DNA and RNA analysis (RNAscope, Visium, etc.) is a plus
- Experience performing special stains such as H&E, PAS, Trichrome, etc.
- Exceptional organizational skills including SOP documentation, and record-keeping using ELN platforms such as Benchling

CompensationThe hourly rate for this position is $42 to $48 USD. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including, without limitation, individual education, experience, tenure, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data, including potential adjustments for geographic location.
