Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineering
We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer who thrives on rapid iteration. We move with the speed and autonomy of a startup to bring next-generation battery technologies to market. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with our in-house teams to develop the next generation of battery and powertrain technologies for high-performance mobility and consumer applications.
You will take on project ownership and design high-quality mechanical systems across a diverse product portfolio. Your impact will span the entire development lifecycle—from initial CAD design and simulation to rigorous validation testing, prototyping, and manufacturing bring-up. The ideal candidate values precision, thrives on technical challenges, and possesses excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between complex engineering and cross-functional execution.
WhatYou'll Do
- Design and model mechanical components and assemblies using Solid Works CAD and PDM.
- Execute structural, thermal, and fluid simulations, correlating digital results to physical testing.
- Develop and execute test plans and design validation methods for battery system failure modes.
- Perform trade-off analyses and DOEs to optimize designs for performance and cost.
- Lead prototype builds and support manufacturing bring-up for new product lines.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Electrical, Software, Systems) to deliver high-confidence products.
- 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally involving battery technologies.
- Hands‑on experience with rapid‑prototyping to create functional jigs and fixtures.
- Experience designing for CNC Machining, Injection Molding, Sheet Metal, and 3D Printing.
- Familiarity with laser welding and IP67 sealing methods.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical issues in succinct language to non‑technical teammates.
- BS, MS, or MEng in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with manufacturing bring‑up, both in‑house and with external contract manufacturers (CMs).
- Familiarity with PDM and PLM systems for revision control.
- Knowledge of safety and transport standards (UN 38.3, UL 2580, UL 2271).
- A demonstrated ownership mindset and the ability to thrive in ambiguity and fast‑paced environments.
- Comprehensive Benefits Package – including Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance (99% of premiums covered).
- Competitive Compensation – base salary plus equity award.
- 401(k) Plan – with employer match up to 5%.
- Paid Time Off – 3 weeks of accrued vacation time.
- Paid Sick Leave – 2 weeks of accrued sick leave.
- Paid Parental Leave – 4 weeks of fully paid leave.
- Company Holidays – paid holidays in line with our company holiday schedule.
- Unpaid Personal Leave – flexible options available.
- PTO Nomination Program – recognize teammates with extra time off!
- Team Outing Program – Sub‑department events designed to connect and recharge, including a half‑day off and a company‑sponsored allowance!
- Catered Team Lunches – enjoy delicious, company‑provided meals together or individually.
- Fully Stocked Kitchen– snacks, drinks, and more to keep you fueled.
- Commuter Benefits – Uber Business Account access, free EV charging, and more.
- Professional Development – budget for training and development.
- Company Team Building Events – weekly, monthly, and seasonal gatherings.
- Flexible Work Options – While our culture emphasizes in‑person collaboration, hybrid flexibility is available after the introductory period to support focused work or personal needs.
- Safety Shoe Stipend – support for required gear.
- Bereavement Leave – 1 week fully paid.
- Jury Duty Leave – 1 week fully paid.
The salary range represents the expected base salary for this role. The actual offer will be based on a variety of factors, including knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. In addition to base salary, full‑time employees are eligible for equity/bonus programs and a comprehensive benefits package.
