FULLJOB DESCRIPTION Physical Security Engineering Lead
Role Overview
We are looking for a Security Engineering Lead to manage the "Global Technical Standards" for our physical security program. This role is the backbone of our construction and retrofit projects. You’ll be in charge of the Master Templates, the CAD resource pipeline, and ensuring our "As-Built" documentation is 100% accurate. You make sure that whether we are building in San Jose or London, the drawings and specs look exactly the same.
GlobalCAD Standards Lifecycle Ownership
Own the full lifecycle of enterprise physical security design standards, including master drawing templates, device block libraries, layer standards, and mounting details. Define revision control, manage change governance, and ensure global design consistency across all projects.
Design and oversee BIM workflows for security systems, ensuring proper object libraries, parameter standards, clash coordination readiness, and integration with architectural and MEP models. Maintain clean model structures that scale across regions and project types.
Drawing Quality Assurance & Technical ReviewEstablish structured QA/QC processes for all issued drawings, including conduit routing, power allocation, pathway capacity, device elevations, and labeling accuracy. Ensure every drawing package meets engineering standards before construction release.
As-Built Integrity & Documentation ControlOwn the redline-to–as-built workflow, ensuring field changes are captured, validated, and reconciled into final drawing sets. Enforce version control, naming conventions, and centralized storage for long-term asset visibility.
Cross-Discipline Coordination & Constructability OversightPartner with Electrical, IT, and Construction teams to ensure security designs are constructible, properly coordinated, and free of scope gaps. Proactively resolve pathway conflicts, IDF/MDF space constraints, and power distribution issues before installation.
Lead internal and external CAD/BIM resources to ensure drawing packages are delivered on time and to standard. Develop performance scorecards, enforce template adherence, and maintain a preferred global design partner ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities- Master Standards: Own and update the Global Physical Security Standards docs, including all hardware specs and mounting details.
- Template Governance: Manage and maintain the Master CAD Templates in both Imperial and Metric formats for our global design partners.
- CAD Coordination: Managing internal and external CAD/BIM resources to ensure project drawings are delivered on time and to spec.
- As-Built Integrity: Leading the process for "As-Built" collection. You ensure that the final drawings actually reflect what was installed in the field before a project is closed out.
- Technical QA: Reviewing floor plans and security designs to ensure they align with our engineering standards and local building codes.
- Approved Device List: Committee chair to the new device selection committee, comprised of Projects, Sustainment, and Engineering Managers.
- 10+ years in Physical Security Design or Engineering, specifically within "Big Tech" or large scale enterprise environments.
- 5+ years working with SQL, Genetec, and Software House.
- Experience managing "Global Standards"—you understand the nuances of Metric vs Imperial and how to scale designs across different regions.
- High attention to detail; you're the person who catches the missing conduit on a 200-page drawing set.
- Strong project management skills to keep CAD vendors and consultants on track.
