Job Description
Provide Management direction to assure Plant Compliance with Federal and Local Environmental, Health, and Safety Regulations by following internal and Global EHS Procedures and Policies and OSHA Regulations.
RequirementsSafety and OSHA Regulations knowledge and experience is required.
Actively participate in the analysis of problems of the different situations presented by collecting inputs from various sources and promote discussion with plant staff and division groups to reach agreement on appropriate priorities establishment for capital expenditure, maintenance programs, and/or new systems for the Safety, Health, and Environmental issues.
Conduct risk assessments for the implementation of new systems and the improvement of current EHS programs to assure compliance of our operations in a proactive manner.
Responsibilities- Education: Bachelor Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (e.g., BSChE, BSME), Bachelor Degree in Science or Industrial Safety.
- Experience: At least six (6) years of combined experience managing environmental, health and safety programs to assure compliance with government regulations and company policies.
- Physical/ Mental Abilities: Must be eager to participate in the development of new ideas and/or improvements of existing ones. Should have good situational awareness and be mentally alert with a good capacity for evaluation, analysis and problem solving. Must have the ability to focus, develop plans, cope with stress, use judgment to accomplish results, and good interpersonal skills. Physical; walking, sitting and standing.
Ability to work with computers, database, and integration of information tracking systems. Fluent in Spanish and English, both orally and writing. - General Knowledge: General knowledge of Quality regulations and standards affecting chemical, biological and medical devices (i.e., Quality Systems and FDA regulations) is desirable. Position requires knowledge on local, state, and OSHA and EPA regulation. Also, general understanding of general industry safety and health standards (NIOSH, ANSI) is required. Incumbent shall display knowledge on the design, requirement and use of equipment, facilities and/or process safety devices such as: relief valves, flame arresters, fusible links, explosion relief panels, etc.
and shows expertise in theories, principles and analytical judgment procedures for the performance evaluation of Environmental Control Systems. Display broad knowledge of related disciplines to perform an effective performance evaluation. - Experience Level: 3-5 Years.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, ANSI, FDA, etc.) and understanding of industry safety and health standards.
Problem SolvingApply principles and experiences to solve a variety of environmental, safety and health problems and recommend optimal solutions considering government and/or state regulations. Resolve problems rapidly under conditions that may endanger health, equipment, and property. Persuade a positive safety attitude among employees and management. Ensure reliable operations in a safe environment through proper training programs, adequate inspections, and fast response to emergencies.
