Overview
Cyprus High School – English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher (0.67 FTE). One Year Only. Applicant must meet licensure requirements and be prepared to support ESL instruction.

Responsibilities- Teach the core content area(s) outlined in the USBE Core Curriculum, correlated with other approved learning activities.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to student needs.
- Utilize effective teaching techniques to translate lesson plans into productive student learning experiences.
- Use computers and other technological classroom support equipment in instruction.
- Supervise students indoors and outdoors (e.g., recess, gym) in all types of weather and air quality.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to create a functional learning atmosphere.
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth; maintain records and prepare progress reports.
- Be familiar with and willing to implement Proficiency-Based Learning and the Granite Way.
- Communicate with parents and other staff regarding student progress.
- Attend faculty meetings and participate in appropriate educator evaluation procedures.
- Administer or participate in testing procedures per state and district policies.
- Choreograph a safe and positive classroom environment and maintain professional conduct and ethics.
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school committees and student activities as applicable.
- Maintain required inventories of books and instructional materials.
- In-state or out-of-state professional licensure as a Secondary Teacher or current Associate Educator License (AEL) through the Utah State Board of Education.
- New graduates: upload a conferral letter on official university letterhead including degree earned, anticipated graduation date, and license content area.
- For those approved for an Associate License, upload both a copy of the highest university degree and the AEL eligibility letter.
- Additionally, upload a copy of the current state license (if applicable) with the application.
- ESL endorsement required. (TESOL not accepted – please work with USBE to apply for ESL endorsement)
- Must have officially graduated prior to the position start date; an official license and degree will be required upon hire.
- Requires a Utah State Board of Education cleared criminal background check.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a valid
Utah Professional Educator License within the relevant licensure area and endorsements if applicable. - Physical and environment: ability to perform duties in a typical school setting, including possible lifting and movement as described in the original posting.
- Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are essential functions.
- Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, and lift light to moderate loads as part of classroom activities.
- Supervision of students indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
