Overview

Clean Harbors in South Plainfield, NJ is seeking a Class A CDL Driver to operate a variety of heavy and light duty trucks/work equipment at customer sites; some vehicles include vacuum trucks, Cuscos, guzzlers, and roll offs. This role involves driving and non-driving duties on and off customer sites related to hazardous waste clean-up. Responsibilities and qualifications described below reflect the requirements for this role.

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies and processes, and always acting in a safe manner
• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers when needed in a team environment
• Operate a variety of Class A trucks
• Loading and unloading of trucks
• Perform manual labor on site to fulfill customer needs
• Proper placarding of vehicles to meet Company and DOT requirements
• Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and various reports
• Follow local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations
• Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT rules
• Adhere to corporate operating guidelines and environmental health and safety guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis (every other week)
• Site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials as applicable

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Class A CDL
• Ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment
• Ability to use various mobile devices
• Ability to perform physical functions per job requirements
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, as applicable
• Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR , employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards

Preferred Qualifications:

• Commercial driver experience
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsement
• Previous Hazmat experience
• Ability to operate a manual transmission
• Previous manual labor experience
