Quality Control Technician

Title of Position: Quality Control Technician

Location: South Plainfield, NJ

• Arrive at the plant or job site prior to the first concrete delivery.
• Perform initial and ongoing testing of aggregate and concrete for gradation, moisture, slump, air content, and temperature.
• After evaluation, coordinate with plant operations and/or QC to ensure necessary adjustments to the mixture.
• Place sample batches in cylinders at the job site.
• Test compressive strength of concrete cylinders in the lab.
• Compare results to design values to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Communicate information to the appropriate individuals/agencies.
• Handle concrete directly during various testing activities.

• Industry experience preferred but not required.
• Some college or further education preferred but not required.
• Travel with personal vehicle to plants and client locations; mileage and tolls reimbursed.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to undergo an MVR check.
• Flexible schedule: work wide variety of hours, overtime, Saturdays, night pours as required.
• Understand product components and interactions.
• Troubleshoot concrete issues and apply corrective actions.
• Demonstrate proper testing techniques for concrete.
• Preferred: ACI Level 1 certified or willing to obtain certification via paid training.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Lift up to 100 lbs of liquid concrete using a wheelbarrow.

• Lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs on occasion.
• Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects.
• Stand for long periods.
• Kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, or crawl as needed.
• Detect sounds and recognize differences between them.
• See details of objects less than a few feet away.
• Discern differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
