About the Position

Seton Hall University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Counselor Education, beginning August 2026. The candidate will maintain a strong presence on our South Orange residential campus while engaging in teaching, advisement, mentoring, and academic program development. The role includes a 9-credit teaching load (three courses per semester) and a comprehensive research agenda with external funding pursuits.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Dedication to research, teaching, and service
  • 18 credit teaching load per academic year, including Counselor Education-related courses
  • Establish and maintain a robust scholarly agenda commensurate with tenure-track at an R2 university, including external funding pursuit
  • Active service across the University, College, Department, and discipline
  • Curriculum development and program assessment, review, and revision
  • Student advisement and mentorship
  • Commitment to the University's Mission
Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education from an accredited institution, or fulfillment of CACREP core faculty requirements
  • Record of scholarly research agenda with future promise of significant publications and/or grants
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience teaching courses both on-campus and alternate modalities with demonstrated effectiveness
  • Background in a CACREP-recognized specialization
  • Licensed or license-eligible in Professional Counseling and/or School Counseling in the state of NJ
  • Demonstrated evidence of, or potential for, grant writing
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaborations, research, and academic innovation across the College's Academic Departments and University
Salary Range

$83,142 - $92,381
