Job Summary
The Special Education Teacher will coordinate and provide developmentally appropriate educational services utilizing a written Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). All strategies and goals are already documented in the plan.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Directs, monitors, and teaches using parent/caregiver‑friendly strategies to work with children 0–3 years old with developmental disabilities.
- Conduct re‑assessments, observations, and documentation to determine where each child may need additional or modified services to meet developmental milestones.
- Assess developmental areas including cognitive, self‑help, communication, fine motor, gross motor, and social‑emotional skills.
- Identify child and family needs and develop strategies to achieve outcomes and goals.
- Collaborate with a team of specialists (speech, occupational, physical therapy, social work, etc.) to develop integrated plans and activities.
- Develop and teach individualized lessons that provide engaging learning opportunities in accordance with each IFSP.
- Complete progress summaries every six months, perform ongoing assessments, and adjust plans as necessary.
- Maintain all required paperwork mandated by the Early Intervention System (EIS).
- Stay current with special education teaching methods, evidence‑based practices, and professional development courses provided by EIS.
- Celebrate student achievements and successes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- ilgan excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to sedation calm and patient demeanor with all children ages 0–3 years old.
- Thorough understanding of various special education needs and services.
- Ability to implement a variety of effective teaching methods.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Travel to each child’s home or daycare as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Appropriate state license or certification required.
- Two years of experience highly preferred.
- Driving to each child’s home or daycare within 10–15 minutes.
- Assist students who have physical difficulties.
- Ability to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull to assist and teach children during the day.
- Basic computer skills for completing necessary paperwork in theljiv state database.
