The Technical Valve Advisor is responsible for providing specialist technical support relating to the inspection, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial valves and associated gearbox systems. The role requires extensive knowledge of multiple valve types, operational performance, and fault diagnosis to support safe and efficient plant operation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert technical advice on all types of industrial valves, including but not limited to butterfly valves, gate valves, globe valves, ball valves, and control valves.
- Diagnose faults and recommend repair or replacement solutions for valve and gearbox assemblies.
- Support maintenance and repair activities on-site and in workshop environments.
- Advise clients and internal teams on best practices for valve operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
- Assist with emergency response situations involving valve or gearbox failures, including isolation and securing of valve positions when required.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance procedures.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company procedures.
- Provide technical reports, inspection findings, and repair recommendations.
- Support training and mentoring of technicians and junior staff where required.
- Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
- Strong working knowledge of various industrial valve types and gearbox mechanisms.
- Proven experience in valve inspection, repair, overhaul, and maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical failures and recommend practical solutions.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of industry safety standards and procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to site locations when required.
- Mechanical Engineering qualification or relevant technical certification.
- Experience working within oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, or similar heavy industry sectors.
- Relevant valve or rotating equipment training certifications.
