Teaching Assistant

East Midlands/ temporary / £90 - 115 per day

Teacher Active are currently looking for a confident, reliable and experienced KS2 HLTA / Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Swadlincote. This is a fantastic opportunity to support teaching and learning across Key Stage 2, while also gaining valuable classroom leadership experience by covering lessons in the teacher’s absence.

We work closely with a range of schools across the area, and pride ourselves on finding the right placements for our staff — whether you’re looking for day-to-day supply, long-term roles, or something permanent.

We are seeking an HLTA who is confident leading whole-class sessions, passionate about supporting children’s learning, and committed to helping pupils thrive both academically and emotionally.

• HLTA qualification or relevant Level 4 (or Level 3 with strong cover experience)
• A minimum of 6 months experience working in UK schools
• Confidence in covering whole class teaching when required
• A calm, professional and positive approach to behaviour management
• A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Experience working with children on both a 1:1 and small group basis
