Pay: Up to $107,000
Job SummaryOur client is seeking a Controls Engineer responsible for the electrical hardware design and software engineering of CNC machines built to meet specific customer requirements. This position will work closely with the Manager of Machine Technology to develop machine options into finalized designs.
The Controls Engineer will lead debugging and startup efforts in collaboration with commissioning teams to ensure seamless machine startups. This role may also work with other team members to develop system manuals and provide end customers with technical documentation and training.
Responsibilities- Selection and sizing of electrical hardware components
- Generation of electrical and fluid schematics
- Authoring and maintaining bills of materials (BOMs)
- Panel layout design and heat calculation analysis
- Sizing and plumbing of pneumatic, coolant, and hydraulic systems
- Development of system hardware architecture
- Writing PLC logic and function blocks
- Guiding, assisting, and troubleshooting panel wiring
- Traveling onsite for customer startup and commissioning as needed
- Interfacing with automation systems for machine tending applications
- Ensuring system compliance with applicable OSHA and safety standards
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant work experience
- 5+ years of experience in electrical hardware design
- PLC programming experience with Siemens TIA Portal
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and prioritize effectively
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- German language skills preferred but not required
- Willingness to travel approximately 25%
Physical Requirements
- Primary work environment is a controlled office setting, with time spent on the shop floor as needed
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
