Job Description & How to Apply Below

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end‑of‑life charity, the largest non‑NHS provider of end‑of‑life care in the UK, and the only provider across all four nations. We deliver community nursing and hospice care nationwide and provide information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement.

Our research expands knowledge of good end‑of‑life care, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone can live with an illness at the best possible quality of life.

We aim to close the gap for people missing out on needed care at the end of life. The next five years’ mission focuses on three key areas:

  • Growing and transforming direct care and support
  • Delivering practical information and support
  • Leading in shaping the end‑of‑life experience

  • Accurately document all care provided and observations in the patient’s electronic records.
  • Work independently on a one‑to‑one basis within the patient’s home, ensuring safety, dignity and professionalism at all times.
  • Provide overnight support to a single patient, offering companionship and monitoring for any signs of deterioration.
  • Escalate any concerns or changes in the patient’s condition to the out‑of‑hours service promptly.
  • Deliver sensitive and respectful care following a patient’s death, including personal care and preparation of the body.
  • Notify the out‑of‑hours service in the event of a patient passing during the night and complete all required documentation.
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum six months’ experience delivering care in a health or social care setting.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards this qualification.
