The Alumni Engagement & Events Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening connections between the University of Rhode Island and its alumni community. Reporting to the Director, Alumni Engagement, this position supports the development and execution of alumni initiatives and events, assists with volunteer engagement, and contributes to communications and outreach efforts that advance the mission of the URI Foundation (URIF).
The Coordinator works collaboratively across departments to support the delivery of high-quality experiences and foster lifelong relationships with alumni.
- Support alumni volunteer initiatives, including recruitment, onboarding, and recognition.
- Serve as a liaison to alumni groups and committees, providing administrative and programmatic support.
- Coordinate the planning and execution of alumni programs such as reunions, regional gatherings, and affinity programs.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications on event promotion across multiple platforms.
- Draft and manage post-event communications for all alumni events in collaboration with the marketing and communications team.
- Collaborate with campus partners to collect alumni engagement data.
- Maintain accurate alumni records in CRM systems and track engagement metrics.
- Responsible for managing Century Walk orders, communications, and brick installations on campus.
- Prepare reports and summaries to inform strategy and measure program impact.
- Coordinate logistics for alumni engagement events(and other events as needed) including venue selection, catering, site layout, safety coordination, décor, signage, name tags, and supply procurement.
- Assist in day-of event execution and ensure timely completion of post-event processes (budget, reporting, internal follow-up communications).
- Travel to local and regional event locations and engagement opportunities as needed.
- Work closely with other Foundation departments and campus partners to assist with or plan events that align with strategic goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, event management, or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in alumni relations, event planning, or similar field preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
