Job Summary
Support industrial refrigeration projects by preparing accurate technical drawings and documentation for ammonia (NH₃), CO₂, and other mechanical refrigeration systems. This role works closely with project engineers, project managers, and field personnel to develop construction, fabrication, and as-built drawings in compliance with project requirements, company standards, and applicable codes.
Key Responsibilities- Produce and revise detailed CAD drawings for industrial refrigeration systems, including:
- P&IDs
- Plan and elevation views
- Isometrics and spool drawings
- Equipment layouts and piping details
- Incorporate engineer and field markups into accurate construction and as-built drawings
- Coordinate with project engineers and field supervisors to resolve design and constructability issues
- Maintain drawing standards, layering, and document control procedures
- Prepare shop drawings and fabrication drawings for piping and mechanical systems
- Support RFI responses and design revisions as required
- Assist with project closeout documentation, including as-builts and O&M drawings
- Verify drawings comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of drafting experience, preferably in industrial refrigeration, mechanical piping, or HVAC
- Proficiency in Autodesk products (2D required; 3D modeling a plus)
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple drawings and deadlines
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems
- Familiarity with IIAR standards, ASME piping, and industrial codes
- Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, or similar design software
- Understanding of field installation and fabrication practices
- Experience producing piping isometrics and spool drawings
- Office-based with occasional job site visits
- May require coordination with field crews and fabrication shops
