Course Overview
This course examines the field of higher education through a political lens, covering relations between institutions and states, institutions and each other, and within institutions. The aim is to introduce students to the fundamental assumptions and applications of political theories at international, national, organizational, and individual levels. Topics include political theory, dynamics, sources of power, and political behaviour. These concepts are used to analyse current debates such as higher education as a public or private good, academic freedom, accountability, internal governance, leadership and administration, and labour relations.

Sessional Dates

July 1, 2026 to August 31, 2026.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctorate in Higher Education or a related field.
- Demonstrated record of scholarship in Higher Education and the subject area of the course.
- Practical experience related to the topic of the course.
- Successful graduate teaching experience in the subject area and a proven track record of teaching online, preferably using Canvas/Quercus.

- None.
Description of Duties
- Prepare, organize, and lead the graduate half‑course.
- Be available to students seeking assistance between classes.
- Evaluate student work and provide feedback.

- $9,820.70 – Sessional Lecturer I

- $10,760.28 – Sessional Lecturer III
- $11,030.36 – Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term
