Work Schedule3 ten-hour days or another combination of hours to total 30 hours. Clinic hours are 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM.
Position OverviewThe Physical Therapist Clinician II is primarily responsible for delivering physical therapy care to the assigned patient population and documenting that care in the hospital medical record.
The therapist acts as a consultant to various patient populations and provides instruction to OT/PT support staff, PT students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, and patients and/or family members. Therapists may rotate through various clinical service areas.
Licensure and Certification Requirements- Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
- Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
- Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Physical Therapist
- Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy
- Preferred:
Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy - Successful challenge of the VCUHS Physical Therapy Clinical Ladder
- Patient evaluation and intervention planning, discharge planning
- Ordering equipment
- Representing the department at rounds and discharge conferences
- Scheduling and charging patients
May supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, Patient Care Technicians, students, and volunteers. Acts as a senior member of a self-directed team, applying knowledge and experience to daily problem solving. Unresolved issues are escalated to the departmental manager.
Additional Requirements- Share in weekend and holiday schedule expectations or have flexible daily work hours from 8 AM to 7 PM based on patient needs.

Lifting 50-100 lbs, frequent bending, walking, climbing, reaching, repetitive motions. - Mental/Sensory:
Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, logical thinking. - Emotional:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment, handle multiple priorities, adapt to change, and manage customer interactions.
