Job Details:

• Minimum 1 year of emergency room experience required

• Epic charting system experience required

• Community hospital experience required

• Patient ratios: 4:1 nights, 7:1 days

• Work with patients across all age groups from neonates to geriatrics

• 16-bed emergency department that flexes up during high census periods

• Every other weekend coverage required

• 36 hours of orientation provided

• Required certifications: TNCC, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, NRP

• Primary stroke center - administer thrombolytics for strokes and STEMIs

• Perform POCT tests including urine pregnancy, strep, gastroccults, hemoccults, glucose

• Work with specialized equipment including Phillips monitors, Level 1 Infuser, Bair Hugger, ultrasound machine for IVs

• Float within scope of practice when needed

• BSN preferred

• Virginia or compact state license required at time of submittal

• Natural nail policy enforced

• Fingerprinting required with 15-20 business day turnaround time

• Complete non-billable modules during orientation week on VCU Learning Exchange

Facility:

This community hospital features a 16-bed emergency department that serves as a primary stroke center, providing comprehensive emergency care across all age groups. The facility maintains a daily census of approximately 75 patients and offers extensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, radiology, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation services. The emergency department is staffed with dedicated charge nurses, ER technicians, and multiple providers throughout the day to ensure optimal patient flow and care delivery.
