Overview
The Occ Ther Assistant assists the Occupational Therapist in evaluating referred pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric in-patients.
The Occ Ther Assistant implements a patient s treatment program after the program is planned by the Occupational Therapist.
The Occ Ther Assistant documents results of patient care sessions in accordance with hospital and department guidelines.
The Occ Ther Assistant participates as a member of a departmental team as well as a member of an interdisciplinary patient care team.
The Occ Ther Assistant provides clinical instruction to OTA students. This position participates in training and education activities.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration- Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist Assistant
- Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist Assistant
- Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area
- Experience
REQUIRED:
New graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant Program (Associates Degree) - Experience PREFERRED:
One (1) year of work experience as an Occupational Therapist Assistant
- Education/training
REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant Program (Associates Degree) - Education/training PREFERRED: N/A
- Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses.
- Setting schedule and managing time.
- Communicating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Adjustment of treatment program based on patient response.
- Completion of routine documentation.
- Customer interaction.
- Occupational Therapist Assistant provides supervision for Rehab Technicians, volunteers and students doing clinical rotations.
- Cross-coverage to all rehab/acute treatment teams.
- Saturday/holiday coverage on a rotating basis.

- Physical - Lifting 50-100 lbs.
