The Weissman Center for Leadership is dedicated to supporting Mount Holyoke College students as they develop the skills and strategies needed to become inspiring, influential leaders. We define leadership broadly, knowing that every student will find their own path to influence and change the world.
Through our Community Engagement Program (CEP), we break down the barriers between the classroom and the real world. We pair students and faculty with local leaders to collaborate on experiential learning and research that has a direct, positive impact on our neighboring communities.
The Assistant Director of Community Partnerships and Experiential Learning develops and executes transformative programming that supports student leadership. Reporting to the Director of the CEP, you will oversee three core program areas:
Tutor/Mentors, Community Fellows, and Program Facilitators. You will be a bridge-builder—connecting academic theory to on-the-ground practice and supporting the MHC Forward strategic plan to prepare graduates who can address the most pressing global and local issues of our time.
- Supervise and mentor Program Facilitators delivering year-long community engagement programs.
- Plan and host leadership and community engagement events, including monthly Tutor/Mentor Brunches.
- Develop community engagement curriculum and professional development plans for student leaders.
- Partner with the Director and CBL Faculty Director to expand community-based learning.
- Serve as liaison between faculty and community organizations.
- Connect faculty with community leaders and policymakers to bring guest voices into the classroom.
- Support assessment and data collection to measure student learning and program impact.
- Represent the College in regional and national experiential learning networks.
- Manage program budgets, process expenses in Workday, and contribute to annual reporting and program development.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (cover letter required if applying with equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in higher education or related field.
- Experience advising, coaching, or supervising college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including support for BIPOC, International, First-Gen, Low-Income, and LGBTQIA+ students.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and project management/design tools (e.g., Asana, Motion, Canva) and Workday.
- Strong organizational, budget management, and communication skills.
- Availability for occasional evenings and weekends.
- Master’s degree in Higher Education or related field.
Hiring Range: $60,957 - $68,577
